Emilineucd began as a small initiative in 2015 when our founder, Emilie Tawiah, observed a troubling pattern in her community in Kumasi. Despite working hard and earning income, many Ghanaians struggled with savings and had limited knowledge about investment opportunities that could help them build long-term wealth.
After completing her master's degree in Financial Economics at the University of Ghana, Emilie organized small workshops at local community centers, teaching basic financial literacy skills to market women and young professionals. What started as weekend workshops quickly gained popularity as participants began seeing tangible results in their financial lives.
By 2017, the demand had grown so significantly that Emilie brought on two colleagues and formalized Emilineucd as an educational organization focused exclusively on savings and investment education. The name "Emilineucd" combines our founder's name with "new community development" – reflecting our commitment to fostering new financial habits that strengthen Ghanaian communities.
Today, Emilineucd has trained over 5,000 Ghanaians across 24 communities, with our curriculum now enhanced by digital learning tools, case studies relevant to the Ghanaian context, and partnerships with financial institutions that provide pathways for our graduates to access appropriate financial products.
